A 256 batting average in simplest form.

A person has a batting average of 256.  Write this batting average as a fraction in simplest form.

A 256 batting average written as a fraction is 256/1000.

In order to place this number into its simplest form factor the numerator and denominator into prime numbers and cancel out all common prime factors.

256 =28=2 x 2 x  2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2  which is 2 multiplied by itself 8 times.

1000=125x8=53 x 23

Divide 1000 into 256 and get 25 / 53 which is 32/125.  Note (28/25=2 (8-5)).

32/125 is the fraction in simplest form equal to a 256 batting average.
