Data on electoral outcomes for Iowa, Wisconsin, and the Nation

Data on electoral outcomes for Iowa, Wisconsin,
and the Nation

The data in the table below is the outcome of the presidential election for every year 1844 to 2016 for Iowa, Wisconsin and the Nation as a whole.

A value of 1 means the Democratic candidate won the election in the state or the nation as a whole.

A value of 0 means the Republican candidate won the election in the state or the nation as a whole.  I assigned the Whig victory in 1848 to the Republicans because the Democrats lost that year.

A value of -1 indicates a victory for the Independent candidate.   (An Independent won Wisconsin in 1924.

I am planning to use this data to create and analyze two-way contingency tables for the outcomes in Iowa and Wisconsin.

I am also planning to use the data to crate and analyze contingency tables describing the relationship between state outcomes and national outcomes.

The results of these statistical tests will be discussed in some of my political blogs.

The questions and answers will be posted in the next two days.
